How do I make a treatment decision?

All treatment options will have some impact on your quality of life and treatment decisions are often very difficult to make.

To define the impact on your quality of life, you need to ask yourself questions like: How will I feel physically and mentally? Will my social life change? Will my work life change?  How important are these things to me?  The impact of a treatment on your quantity of life is more straightforward – how effective is each form of therapy in my particular case?

The relationship between quality and quantity of life are different for every person.  Only you can make the final decision about which treatment options will work for you.

The job of the doctor in this situation is to help you become as informed as is possible about the risks and benefits of the various treatment options and help you make a decision.  In the end,  the final decision lies with you.
